ExaGrid System Enhances Backup and Disaster Recovery

This case study details the implementation of the ExaGrid system by the United Way of Greater Atlanta to improve backup performance and disaster recovery (DR) strategies. The organization transitioned from a Quantum DXi appliance to ExaGrid Tiered Backup Storage after experiencing significant performance issues. The IT team conducted a demo and found that backup times for SQL databases improved dramatically, reducing from 4-5 hours to approximately 30 minutes. The ExaGrid solution includes a cloud tier that allows for the replication of deduplicated backup data to Microsoft Azure, providing a robust DR solution. The ease of use and speed of the ExaGrid system have been highlighted as major benefits, particularly for the small IT team at the organization. Additionally, the support from ExaGrid has been noted as a key factor in the successful implementation and ongoing confidence in the backup solution. The organization plans to expand its use of Veeam features now that ExaGrid is in place.
