ExaGrid System Implementation for Ajuntament de Girona

This case study details the implementation of the ExaGrid Tiered Backup Storage system by Ajuntament de Girona to enhance data protection and backup efficiency. The city council faced challenges with their previous backup storage, which was complicated and inefficient due to multiple systems and outdated technology. The CTO, Paco Berta, sought a solution that would optimize storage usage and improve security, particularly in light of increasing ransomware threats. The project was partially funded by the NextGenerationEU Recovery Program. After evaluating various vendors, ExaGrid was selected for its effective deduplication and backup capabilities. The deployment process was noted for its speed and ease, with the new system allowing for extended data retention and improved security measures, including a disaster recovery site. The case study highlights the advantages of ExaGrid's architecture, including its Retention Time-Lock feature for ransomware recovery and dedicated customer support.
