This case study outlines the application goal of reducing compressed air consumption and noise levels associated with hose connections used as blow-off devices. Initially, an engineered steel tubing producer faced excessive noise and air consumption due to a manifold setup using quick connect hose fittings, which measured 74.63 SCFM at 13 psig inlet pressure and generated a sound level of 98 dBA per line across five lines. After implementing two Model 1101 Super Air Nozzles, the compressed air consumption and noise levels significantly decreased to 20.90 SCFM at 56 psig and 72 dBA, respectively. The study explains that the higher pressure resulted in lower consumption and sound levels due to the efficient design of the nozzles. Additionally, a solenoid valve was installed to control airflow, further reducing total air consumption to an effective rate of 12.54 SCFM.
