This document is a case study that outlines the application goal of enhancing the product surface finish of hot extruded plastic film. The initial setup involved a homemade drilled pipe configuration used to cool and set the surface layer of the extruded polymer sheet. However, this method resulted in surface blemishes, as evidenced by streaks caused by the drilled holes. The case study details the transition to using 36-inch Stainless Steel Super Air Knives, which significantly improved the surface finish from a wrinkled texture to a smooth, laminar sheet. Additionally, the clarity of the product improved due to reduced thickness variations. The implementation of the Super Air Knives not only enhanced the surface quality but also increased the process speed and reduced noise levels in the operational area, showcasing the effectiveness of this solution in optimizing production efficiency.
