This technical report outlines a moisture removal process for galvanized steel parts after roll forming to prevent white oxidation during storage. The document describes the challenges faced by a customer using plastic nozzles and a vacuum system, which only removed 35% of the moisture and resulted in quality complaints due to oxidation. The report details the implementation of two 6-inch Super Air Knives, which improved the process by achieving an 80% moisture removal rate without the need for readjustment. This new setup significantly reduced compressed air usage from 74 SCFM to 34.8 SCFM, effectively cutting air consumption in half. The report concludes that the installation of the Super Air Knives not only enhanced reliability and ease of use but also led to substantial cost savings, amounting to $1,177.50 per 250-day work year, with a return on investment (ROI) of 85 days.
