This case study outlines the application goal of replacing non-compliant rubber tips on handheld blow guns used in a facility. The previous rubber tips were not OSHA compliant for dead-end pressure and caused short cycling of the air compressor due to high demand. The operators utilized these tips at 14 different stations, with varying usage times across two shifts. After evaluating the applications, two engineered Super Air Nozzles, the Pico and Nano models, were selected as replacements. Following the implementation of these nozzles, compliance with OSHA standard 1910.242(b) for dead-end pressure was achieved. Additionally, the new nozzles reduced ambient noise levels by up to 15.2 decibels, aiding in compliance with OSHA's allowable noise exposure. The customer also benefited from a significant reduction in compressed air usage, saving 3,319.2 SCFM per day, which contributed to decreased compressor wear during production.
