This document is a Total Economic Impact™ study commissioned by Palo Alto Networks, conducted by Forrester Consulting. It examines the potential return on investment (ROI) that organizations may achieve by deploying Palo Alto Networks Software Firewalls. The study provides a framework for evaluating the financial impact of these software firewalls on organizations. Through interviews with six representatives from five organizations and a survey of 158 additional respondents, the study aggregates experiences to form a composite organization. Key findings indicate that the composite organization experiences significant benefits, including $5.99 million in benefits over three years against $2.28 million in costs, resulting in a net present value (NPV) of $3.71 million and an ROI of 163%. The analysis highlights various quantified benefits, such as savings in deployment and management efforts, reductions in downtime, and avoided hardware costs, while also addressing unquantified benefits that enhance security and operational efficiency.
