This case study details how The Sequel Group utilized the Fulcrum platform to enhance the gas meter inspection process for a utility client facing a regulatory deadline. The utility was required to inspect 2.1 million gas meters by April 2020, a task complicated by inefficient field tech deployment and a lack of standardized data. Sequel developed a custom app within Fulcrum that streamlined scheduling and inspection workflows, allowing supervisors to plan routes quickly and efficiently. The integration of computer vision optical character recognition enabled automatic data population from meter photographs, significantly reducing inspection time. Training for 500 users was simplified due to the intuitive interface of Fulcrum, allowing technicians to train subcontractors effectively. The implementation of an automated appointment scheduling system further improved customer satisfaction. Overall, the solution not only met regulatory requirements but also transformed the utility's operational efficiency and data management processes.
