FydeOS Implementation in Prague Primary School

This case study details the implementation of FydeOS at Základní škola a Mateřská škola J. A. Komenského in Prague, where ten Microsoft Surface Pro 7 tablets were donated by the EIB Institute. The school faced the challenge of operating these devices without an operating system, requiring a solution that was simple for young pupils, compatible with existing Google accounts, and effective on touch-screen tablets. The document outlines the decision-making process that led to the selection of FydeOS over Windows and ChromeOS Flex, highlighting issues such as complexity and compatibility. Following the installation of FydeOS, the tablets became functional, allowing pupils to sign in with a single Google account and enabling multiple accounts to share a device. The case study concludes with the successful deployment of FydeOS on all ten tablets, which will be used in classrooms starting September 2026, and mentions plans for further evaluation based on feedback from teachers and pupils.
