Automated HEDIS Supplementary File Submission Process

This document is a case study detailing the partnership between an independent multispecialty medical group and The Garage to develop an automated process for submitting HEDIS® Supplementary files. The medical group faced challenges with their previous manual submission method, which was labor-intensive and prone to errors, risking financial losses. The collaboration aimed to streamline the reporting process, which is critical for compliance with CMS-sponsored programs that require extensive reporting for performance-based incentives. The solution involved automating the retrieval of gap list files from payers, comparing them with EMR data, and compiling submissions tailored to payer requirements. This automated process has significantly improved efficiency, saving approximately 60-80 person days and allowing the medical group to focus on analyzing their performance in value-based care programs rather than data collection. The outcomes demonstrate a successful implementation of technology to enhance operational workflows in healthcare reporting.
