This case study details the Meander Medical Center's response to increased healthcare demands during the COVID-19 pandemic. The hospital, located in Amersfoort, Netherlands, faced significant challenges due to staff shortages and a surge in patient care needs. In response, the hospital converted operating rooms into Intensive Care Units (ICUs) to accommodate more patients, which increased the workload for staff. To alleviate this burden, the hospital sought a solution to monitor ICU patients more efficiently. The IT department implemented Genetec Omnicast, a video surveillance system, along with Axis Communications IP video cameras. The installation was completed rapidly, allowing staff to observe patients remotely, thereby reducing their workload and enhancing patient care. The intuitive nature of the Omnicast software facilitated quick adaptation among staff, contributing to improved operational efficiency during a critical time. This case study outlines the implementation process and the positive impact of the video management solution on patient monitoring and staff workload.
