This technical report presents a comparative study of four sorptive extraction techniques: Solid Phase Microextraction (SPME), SPME Arrow, Stir Bar Sorptive Extraction (SBSE), and Solvent-Assisted SBSE (SA-SBSE). The objective is to evaluate their effectiveness in extracting polar aroma compounds from aqueous samples, specifically focusing on roasted green tea. The study maintains consistent analytical conditions across all methods to ensure a fair comparison. Results indicate that SA-SBSE provides the highest recovery rates for polar compounds, particularly those with low octanol-water partitioning coefficients. The report details the experimental setup, including the use of specific PDMS-coated devices and the conditions under which the extractions were performed. It also discusses the theoretical recovery calculations and compares them with experimental results, highlighting the advantages of SA-SBSE in enhancing recovery for hydrophilic solutes. The findings contribute to the understanding of sorptive extraction methodologies in analytical chemistry.
