HIV/AIDS Roundtable Discussion Report

This report is a summary of discussions held during roundtable events organized by Gilead Sciences in June and October 2023, focusing on the HIV/AIDS crisis in Canada. The report outlines key themes and recommendations that emerged from these discussions, aimed at guiding stakeholders and government actions to meet the UNAIDS goal of ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic by 2030. Six main themes were identified, including the need for collaboration among stakeholders, an improved model of funding, equitable access to healthcare, the importance of collecting race-based and Indigenous identity data, addressing social determinants of health, and lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants emphasized the necessity of coordinated efforts and increased funding to enhance prevention and treatment strategies, ensuring that all Canadians have access to essential services and medications. The report serves as a reflection on the collective commitment to improving the lives of those affected by HIV/AIDS in Canada.
