Integration of SAP AP and Plant Maintenance with SharePoint

This document is a case study detailing the integration of SAP Accounts Payable (AP) and Plant Maintenance (PM) systems with SharePoint at Wilmar Sugar Australia, a division of Wilmar International. The project aimed to reduce IT costs and improve system usability by leveraging SharePoint as a content repository. The implementation involved several stages, including the installation of Gimmal Link to connect invoices in SharePoint with SAP transactions, which facilitated the migration of over one million documents. The transition resulted in a 30% reduction in SAP database storage, leading to significant cost savings. Additionally, the new automated AP process enhanced cash management and improved the efficiency of plant maintenance operations. The case study outlines the tangible benefits achieved, such as the elimination of a legacy OpenText ECM system and increased user productivity through improved visibility of maintenance documentation in both SAP and SharePoint.
