This document is a case study detailing the implementation of RFID-based self-checkouts for the Shoprite Group's new apparel banner, UNIQ. The initiative aimed to launch the first UNIQ store within six months, coinciding with the upgrade of the entire POS software to GK OmniPOS. The Shoprite Group faced the challenge of integrating their existing loyalty platform with the new system while ensuring compliance with fiscalization requirements across multiple Southern African countries. The collaboration with GK and RFID technology providers resulted in the successful deployment of a cashless self-checkout system that automatically captures items without barcode scanning. The integration into the Shoprite Group's SAP system was completed in just eight weeks, significantly faster than anticipated. By June 2023, nine UNIQ stores were operational, with plans for further expansion. The project showcased effective teamwork and rapid technological adaptation, highlighting the capabilities of GK's solutions in meeting the retailer's needs.
