This document is a case study detailing the collaboration between Evolution Engineering and Greene Tweed to develop a custom-engineered female rotatable electrical connector designed to withstand harsh drilling conditions characterized by excessive shock and vibration. The case study outlines the challenges faced in the industry, particularly the increasing demand for higher rates of penetration (ROP) and extended reach laterals, which contribute to the stress experienced by downhole tools. To address these challenges, Evolution partnered with Greene Tweed, leveraging their expertise in high-performance electrical connectors. The document describes the rigorous testing processes undertaken, including lab tests simulating extreme conditions, such as 21 days at 40G RMS and multiple shock cycles at high G-forces. The results indicate that the newly engineered connector significantly enhances the reliability and performance of the EvoOne™ tool in demanding environments. This collaboration exemplifies the integration of advanced engineering solutions to meet the evolving needs of the drilling industry.
