This technical report presents the one-year implementation outcomes of the PILLAR study, which evaluates the effectiveness and acceptability of cabotegravir long-acting injectable pre-exposure prophylaxis (CAB LA PrEP) among men who have sex with men (MSM) and transgender men (TGM). The study enrolled 201 participants from May 2022 to August 2023, with 142 completing Month 12 surveys and 44 participating in qualitative interviews. The report outlines that CAB LA was well-accepted, with 94% of participants reporting no HIV acquisition. The study also highlights the implementation strategies used across 17 sites in the United States, comparing routine implementation with dynamic implementation approaches. Participants reported high feasibility and acceptability scores for CAB LA, with minimal stigma associated with its use. The findings indicate that flexible scheduling and educational resources significantly supported adherence to CAB LA, enhancing the overall experience for participants. The report concludes that CAB LA is a feasible and acceptable option for MSM and TGM in the context of HIV prevention.
