Community Emergency Response Teams in Latin America

This research article explores disaster volunteerism in Latin America and Spanish-speaking communities in the USA, focusing on the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program. It highlights the motivations and perceptions of local emergency managers and volunteers, based on a survey conducted in October 2022. The findings reveal a strong enthusiasm for grassroots volunteerism and the potential for expanding established disaster training programs like CERT and LISTOS across the region.
