This research article presents the findings of the SAFE-TAVI trial, which investigates the safety and efficacy of the SavvyWire during transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedures. The study included 121 patients with severe aortic stenosis across eight European centers. The primary efficacy endpoint was defined as effective left ventricular rapid pacing runs that resulted in a significant systemic pressure drop below 60 mm Hg, which was achieved in 116 patients (98.3%). The safety outcome measured the absence of major procedural complications related to the guidewire, with 117 patients (99.2%) meeting this criterion. The guidewire demonstrated its capability for continuous hemodynamic pressure monitoring and facilitated aortic valve delivery. The study concludes that the SavvyWire is both efficacious and safe for use in TAVR procedures, potentially minimizing interventions and enhancing clinical decision-making. The findings support the ongoing development of innovative technologies in the field of cardiovascular interventions.
