This report presents findings from a global study conducted by Harvard Business Impact, focusing on the evolving role of midlevel leaders in organizational transformation. The study surveyed over 600 leaders and revealed that a significant majority, 93%, reported their organizations had undergone major transformations within the past year. Midlevel leaders are increasingly taking on responsibilities related to transformation initiatives, with 96% indicating they have led or participated in such efforts. The report outlines that 65% of these leaders provided strategic input or supported implementation processes, while 64% felt empowered to drive innovation aligned with organizational goals. Despite these contributions, there are concerns regarding the clarity of their roles, as only 36% of senior leaders view midlevel leaders as effective drivers of transformation. The report emphasizes the need for organizations to establish clear expectations, provide targeted support, and recognize the contributions of midlevel leaders to fully leverage their potential during transformation efforts.
