Enhancing Cybersecurity in Municipal Operations

This case study outlines the cybersecurity enhancements undertaken by Vaggeryds Kommun, a local government authority in southern Sweden, through a partnership with Heimdal Security. With a workforce of 1,000 employees and 1,800 students utilizing 2,800 devices, the municipality faced challenges in managing cybersecurity due to a lean IT team of only 6-7 staff. The transition to Microsoft 365 necessitated a security platform that could simplify protection and scale with their digital transformation goals. Heimdal's unified cybersecurity platform was adopted to meet these needs, offering comprehensive protection for users, devices, identities, and communications through a single dashboard. Key features include next-gen antivirus, DNS security, ransomware protection, and email security. The partnership has enabled Vaggeryds Kommun to maintain security and compliance while reducing operational complexity, allowing the IT team to focus on strategic initiatives.
