Unified GIS Solution for Pipeline Management

This case study details the implementation of a unified Geographic Information System (GIS) solution by CONPET S.A. in Romania, aimed at enhancing the management of its extensive pipeline network. The solution integrates Hexagon’s GeoMedia Professional, GeoMedia WebMap, and M.App Enterprise technologies, facilitating real-time data collection, geospatial analysis, and regulatory compliance. The transition from disparate applications to a cohesive system has significantly improved operational efficiency, allowing for better decision-making and strategic planning. The new system has also led to a 50% reduction in construction permit approval times and has optimized maintenance processes, resulting in reduced operational costs. Continuous monitoring of the pipeline's integrity has enabled proactive maintenance, minimizing disruptions. Furthermore, the adoption of the Pipeline Open Data Standard (PODS) model ensures adherence to industry standards, enhancing accountability and compliance with environmental regulations.
