Digital Transformation in Local Government Survey Report

This document is a research report that presents findings from a survey conducted by Hitachi Solutions in partnership with LGC, focusing on the digital ambitions and realities faced by UK local authorities. The survey aimed to assess the perceived potential, planned utilization, and readiness of councils to adopt major technologies over the next five years. Despite recognizing the transformative potential of digital technologies, many councils struggle to implement these solutions effectively, leading to a gap between aspirations and practical application. The report outlines key findings, including that 54% of respondents lack the knowledge and confidence to design and implement digital solutions. It also highlights barriers such as funding and staff capabilities that hinder digital adoption. The survey involved 78 valid responses from various local government officials, revealing a complex landscape where councils have strategic visions but often fall short in leveraging digital tools to achieve their objectives.
