This case study outlines the implementation of a comprehensive security system for Copenhagen Energy, a utility provider in Denmark. The organization faced challenges in monitoring threats to critical infrastructure and extending security systems to remote locations. To address these issues, Copenhagen Energy selected the OnGuard® system, which offers a flexible and scalable security solution. The system integrates access control and video surveillance across hundreds of sites, supported by Danish systems integrator Petersen-Bach A/S. The OnGuard platform operates on two IBM servers with automatic failover, ensuring stable operation. It manages over 300 card readers and 7,500 I/O points, allowing for effective access control and surveillance. The case study details how the system enhances security for waterworks and pumping stations, and outlines future plans for further automation and integration with human resources databases. Overall, the OnGuard system significantly improves the security of essential utilities for over a million city inhabitants.
