This case study details the implementation of HUMAN Sightline by a large e-commerce retailer to combat credential stuffing attacks that threatened account security and brand reputation. The retailer faced significant challenges due to malicious traffic leading to account takeovers, resulting in financial losses and customer churn. The solution employed by the retailer involved real-time detection and mitigation of these attacks through an extensive database of compromised credentials. Within the first two weeks of deployment, HUMAN Sightline identified nearly 4,000 login attempts using compromised credentials and achieved over a 90% reduction in credential stuffing incidents. The system also functioned as an early warning mechanism, alerting the retailer to potential larger scale attacks. The results included a drastic decrease in accounts at risk of account takeovers, from approximately 2.5 million to under 2,500. This case study illustrates the effectiveness of proactive measures in cybersecurity for e-commerce platforms.
