This case study details the cybersecurity challenges faced by Sally Beauty, a distributor and retailer of professional beauty products, particularly regarding card-not-present (CNP) fraud and automated attacks on its e-commerce platform. The company experienced significant financial losses due to fraud, with costs reaching thousands of dollars per hour from fees associated with fraudulent transactions. An internal investigation revealed that sophisticated carding attacks were targeting the site, exploiting weaknesses in their existing security measures. To combat these threats, Sally Beauty implemented HUMAN Sightline Cyberfraud Defense, which seamlessly integrated with their Salesforce Commerce Cloud platform. The solution utilized behavioral analysis and machine learning algorithms to effectively detect and mitigate malicious bot traffic and Magecart attacks. As a result, Sally Beauty reported a 97% reduction in CNP fraud costs, improved ongoing protection against automated threats, and a significant decrease in the risk of digital skimming attacks. This case study illustrates the effectiveness of automated cybersecurity solutions in addressing complex digital threats.
