This technical report presents findings from the seventh annual Content Services Pulse Study, commissioned by Hyland and conducted by Forrester Consulting. The study investigates the evolution of enterprise content management (ECM) towards the integration of AI agents, which are intelligent tools designed to enhance decision-making and innovation by leveraging enterprise knowledge. The report outlines the current state of AI agent adoption among organizations, revealing that while 45% of decision-makers report their organizations are already using AI agents, most implementations remain limited to individual or team levels. The report identifies critical barriers to broader adoption, including challenges in governance and integration, as well as the need for improved context awareness. Additionally, it emphasizes the role of technology and consulting partners in facilitating the adoption process, as organizations seek to harness the full potential of AI agents to drive efficiency and enhance customer experiences. The findings underscore the urgency for organizations to address foundational capabilities to scale AI agent deployment effectively.
