This case study details how Teléfonos de México (Telmex) addressed challenges related to the identification of network assets, including locations, equipment, and facilities. The company faced issues with inconsistent naming conventions across multiple systems, which hindered collaboration and integration. To resolve these issues, Telmex partnered with iconectiv to implement a standardized naming system using Common Language Codes, including CLLI, CLFI, and CLEI Codes. This solution enabled Telmex to uniquely identify approximately 250,000 network locations globally, facilitating better data consistency and operational efficiency. The implementation resulted in significant improvements, such as a 23% reduction in order fallout and a payback period of 14 months. Additionally, Telmex leveraged these standards for various projects, including public safety initiatives and telemedicine networks. The case study illustrates the transformation of Telmex from a compartmentalized organization to a collaborative entity, enhancing service delivery and operational performance.
