Automated Border Control Solution at Avinor Oslo Airport

This document is a technical report detailing the implementation of an advanced automated border control (ABC) solution at Avinor Oslo Airport, the second busiest airport in Scandinavia. The report outlines the collaboration between Avinor and IDEMIA, which introduced a biometric system featuring walk-through facial recognition technology. This system was designed to address the challenges posed by increasing passenger numbers and long queues, enhancing the overall travel experience. The new solution replaced outdated eGates with a total of twelve new arrival eGates and nine departure eGates, significantly improving throughput and security. The report also highlights the integration of the ABC system with existing IT infrastructure, ensuring compliance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). IDEMIA's solution went live in May 2018, just before the peak travel season, and aims to provide a seamless and efficient experience for passengers while maintaining high security standards.
