This case study details the implementation of the 'Follow Me Desktop' solution at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, aimed at enhancing clinician access to electronic patient records (EPR) while improving security and reducing login times. The challenge faced by clinicians included lengthy login processes, requiring multiple user IDs and passwords, which could take up to 30 minutes. The solution integrated IGEL Endpoint OS, Imprivata for electronic prescribing, and Citrix to create a centralized management system, allowing for quick access to patient information. As a result, clinicians experienced significantly reduced login times, leading to more time for patient care. The Trust has successfully rolled out this solution across various departments, including inpatient wards and operating theatres, which has streamlined the adoption of the Sunrise EPR. The case study also highlights the reduction in IT administration burdens and support calls, as well as the enhanced user experience reported by clinicians.
