This report presents the findings of a rapid multi-sectoral needs assessment conducted in Kismayo District, Somalia, from May 26 to 29, 2024. The assessment aimed to evaluate the impact of the Gu seasonal rains on the local population, which resulted in significant flooding affecting over 268,000 individuals. The report details the displacement of approximately 1,000 people due to flooding and conflict, with a focus on the urgent needs for non-food items (NFIs) such as tents, mosquito nets, and plastic sheets. It highlights the challenges faced by the affected population, including limited access to clean drinking water, health services, and adequate shelter. The assessment involved 45 key informant interviews across 18 sites, revealing that many markets were either partially or fully destroyed, leading to increased prices for essential goods. The findings underscore the urgent need for humanitarian assistance and the critical conditions faced by the displaced communities in Kismayo.
