Accelerating Enterprise AI Adoption and Speed to Value

This case study outlines the collaboration between a seven-hospital academic health system and Impact Advisors to enhance the adoption of Epic’s artificial intelligence capabilities. The health system faced challenges in scaling AI innovations due to outdated governance and operational structures. To address these issues, Impact Advisors designed an enterprise Epic AI program aimed at accelerating implementation while ensuring governance alignment and sustainable growth. The engagement began with a one-month discovery assessment focused on six foundational pillars essential for AI success. A scalable Epic AI Operating Model was developed, facilitating the deployment of nine AI models and improving governance and adoption. The study details the establishment of cross-functional delivery pods to manage implementation phases and the creation of an Epic AI Playbook that integrates project management and change management processes. The results demonstrated a significant acceleration in AI model deployment and a transformation in the health system's approach to AI innovation, ensuring future scalability and efficiency.
