This case study details the consolidation of multiple Epic EHR instances following a significant merger and acquisition event within a large Midwest health system. The objective was to migrate all sites to a single Epic instance to standardize processes, policies, and applications, thereby achieving economies of scale and enhancing patient service. The chosen Epic instance was recognized for its advanced capabilities and financial robustness. Impact Advisors played a crucial role in the program leadership, facilitating the rollout to numerous hospitals and clinics. A key challenge was managing change across the newly merged organization, ensuring acceptance of the selected workflows and operational processes. The migration involved significant data consolidation, including over 6.5 million patient records and the rationalization of nearly 350 third-party applications to under 200. The successful implementation led to improved efficiencies, reduced costs, and a unified patient experience across the health system.
