This report presents the findings of the Arts & Economic Prosperity 6 (AEP6) study, which evaluates the economic and social impact of nonprofit arts and culture organizations in the United States. The study reveals that in 2022, the nonprofit arts and culture sector generated $151.7 billion in economic activity, which includes $73.3 billion from arts organizations and an additional $78.4 billion from event-related spending by audiences. The sector supported 2.6 million jobs and produced $101 billion in personal income for residents, alongside generating $29.1 billion in tax revenue for government entities. AEP6 expands its scope to incorporate social impact metrics, showing that a significant portion of event attendees feel an emotional connection to their community through cultural events. The report emphasizes the importance of investing in the arts as a means to foster community vibrancy and economic growth, especially following challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. AEP6 also addresses equity by ensuring diverse representation in its methodology and findings.
