Economic Impact of the Santa Teresa Port of Entry and Industrial Parks

This report presents a study conducted by the Center for Border Economic Development and Arrowhead Center at New Mexico State University, focusing on the economic impact of the Santa Teresa Port of Entry and the Santa Teresa Industrial Parks. The analysis aims to estimate the economic effects stemming from border-related activities and international trade facilitated by these entities. It serves as an update to a previous study released in 2021, which assessed similar economic impacts. The report details employment generated by firms in the industrial parks, new construction activities, and the trade enabled by the port. Key findings include the creation of 4,442 direct jobs and a total of 9,174 jobs, alongside a total output of $2.5 billion. The report also quantifies tax revenues generated and highlights that approximately 80% of the economic benefits accrue in New Mexico. The methodology employed relies on available trade and employment data, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of the economic landscape in the region.
