This case study details the implementation of a standardized quality assurance (QA) process by a Canadian energy utility using Inflectra's SpiraTest and Rapise. The objective was to streamline the testing and release of over 100 applications, ensuring consistency and reliability across various vendors and teams. Prior to this implementation, the utility faced challenges with inconsistent testing practices, as each project followed its own approach dictated by external vendors. The adoption of SpiraTest allowed for a centralized test repository, replacing outdated MS-Office documents, and facilitated the automation of testing processes. The company also established a new standardized process for requirements management, test case design, and execution. As a result, all applications are now independently tested by QA before release, enabling better traceability and efficiency. The integration of test automation with Rapise has further enhanced their testing capabilities, with approximately 25% of the application portfolio utilizing this tool. The case study illustrates the successful collaboration between tool and process in achieving QA success.
