This case study details the challenges faced by a global supply chain company that provides analytics, packaging, sourcing, and logistics services. The company operates across multiple regions, including North America, South America, Europe, Australia, and the Asia Pacific. The primary challenges included inefficiencies in supply chain processes due to redundant and inconsistent item data, as well as difficulties in cross-referencing customer data across different regional markets. To address these issues, the company changed its internal identification method for customer data to align with GS1 standards and developed an automated ingestion process for critical customer data sourced from various market data sources. The solution involved defining match criteria between customer source data and the client’s market systems, standardizing data between customer-provided and internal sources, and implementing a flexible and scalable Master Data Management (MDM) solution. This solution enabled automated item onboarding and matching, along with the implementation of the Stibo STEP platform to enhance data quality measurement.
