AWS-Powered Material Intelligence for Drilling Operations

This case study presents the development of a cloud-native material intelligence platform by InfoVision, utilizing AWS for a global energy company. The primary objective was to connect engineering data, SAP, and AI-driven operational workflows to enhance visibility across drilling operations. Key challenges addressed included fragmented engineering and material management systems, manual material tracking, and inefficient forecasting. The solution involved deploying a scalable platform using AWS ECS and Fargate, which centralized data and improved operational efficiency. The integration of SAP with cloud-based forecasting allowed for better planning decisions, while AI technologies automated various processes, enhancing collaboration among teams. The outcomes of this implementation included significant asset savings of approximately $8 billion, improved planning and forecasting capabilities, real-time material visibility, and reduced manual effort. The architecture also positions the client for future innovations in predictive planning and advanced operational intelligence.
