This case study outlines the implementation of a remote identity verification system by Innovatrics ABIS for the Thai government, aimed at enhancing access to eGovernment services. In 2019, the Ministry of Interior of Thailand initiated the deployment of Innovatrics ABIS for national ID issuance, leading to the development of a secure identity verification platform via a mobile application in 2022. The primary objective of this initiative is to provide a digital identity token that allows citizens to access both government and private services efficiently. The case study details the challenges faced, including ensuring reliable remote verification and integrating components with the ABIS API. It describes the Digital Onboarding Toolkit (DOT) used for unsupervised identity verification and the security measures in place, such as facial recognition and liveness detection technology. The results indicate a significant increase in identity verifications, with at least 21,000 unique users verified daily, thereby streamlining access to services and enhancing security against identity fraud.
