This case study details the IT transformation project for the AROYA vessel, owned by Cruise Saudi, which was launched in 2023 as the first Arabian cruise line. The project aimed to modernize the vessel's infrastructure by replacing outdated systems with advanced technology solutions. Insight was tasked with delivering a hyper-converged infrastructure, which included the deployment of Cisco technology and Microsoft platforms to enhance guest experiences and optimize crew operations. The transformation involved collaboration with 33 globally dispersed partners and required a detailed understanding of the vessel's operational model and refurbishment schedule. Key outcomes included the installation of 2,000 Wi-Fi access points to ensure seamless connectivity for 3,500 passengers and 1,700 crew members. The project was completed within 11 months, aligning with Cruise Saudi's vision to create new tourism opportunities and set new standards in maritime operations. The initiative also supported sustainability efforts by securely wiping legacy IT assets for resale.
