This document is a case study detailing the implementation of digital credentialing at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). The objective of BCIT's initiative is to provide students with a flexible and clear pathway to gain future-ready skills through a laddered microcredentialing program. The case study outlines the institution's collaboration with industry partners to align educational offerings with market demands, emphasizing tailored learning programs. It describes the selection of Canvas Credentials as the digital badging system, which supports compliance with Canadian information privacy requirements. The case study presents three distinct delivery models for microcredentialing, highlighting the challenges faced and the solutions developed to ensure successful implementation. It also discusses the growth of BCIT's microcredential programs, including the issuance of over 1,000 program microcredentials and 4,000 course badges, and the ongoing evolution of these offerings to meet the needs of students and employers in a changing workforce.
