This white paper presents the GEAR framework, which serves as a catalyst for sustainable digital transformation. It addresses the common issue of fragmentation in digital transformation efforts faced by many organizations. Traditional enterprise architecture practices often result in static documentation that does not align with execution, leading to inefficiencies. The GEAR framework integrates the Open Digital Transformation Architecture (O-DXA) and the FORGE execution methodology, transforming architectural models into dynamic guides that facilitate organizational change. GEAR comprises two components: O-DXA, which provides a structural model mapping an enterprise across five domains, and FORGE, an iterative methodology that shifts architecture from documentation to a continuous execution mechanism. This approach promotes a living architecture that evolves with the organization, enhancing collaboration and strategic alignment. The paper outlines the implications of GEAR for organizational leaders, emphasizing its role in overcoming governance challenges and fostering sustainable change.
