Digital Identity Solutions for National Defence

This case study presents the collaboration between Intercede and Entrust to enhance the digital identity infrastructure of a national Ministry of Defence in the Asia Pacific region. The objective was to modernize outdated technology systems, including the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Credential Management System (CMS), to improve security and operational resilience. The challenges faced included the need for enhanced security mechanisms, user experience optimization through biometrics, compliance with the FIPS 201 PIV standard, and the transition of an end-of-life PKI component. The solution involved a scalable architecture using Intercede’s MyID CMS, which supports multiple environments and end-user devices. Key features included biometric Match-on-Card authentication for improved security, a secure Key Storage solution via MyID SecureVault, and seamless integration with a new PKI provided by Entrust. The phased deployment is expected to enhance security capabilities and remain operational for at least eight years, addressing the evolving demands of the defence sector.
