This technical report addresses the validation of decentralised architectures for Digital Product Passports (DPPs) under the European Union's Data Governance Act (DGA). It outlines the importance of DPPs in promoting sustainability and circular economies, emphasizing the need for compliance with regulatory frameworks such as the DGA, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). The report presents a decentralised DPP architecture that integrates data intermediaries and cryptographic mechanisms, demonstrating how it meets key regulatory requirements. Validation is conducted through early-stage pilots in the PACE-DPP and USEFLEDS projects, providing empirical evidence of the compliance-by-design approach. The findings indicate that decentralised governance and regulated data intermediaries enhance interoperability and trust, operationalizing regulatory mandates to create legally compliant and scalable DPP ecosystems. The report also discusses the challenges of ensuring secure data exchange among stakeholders and the necessity of integrating governance frameworks into technical architectures for effective DPP implementation.
