Biofuels and Their Role in Transportation Decarbonization

This technical report discusses the potential and sustainability of biofuels, particularly focusing on those that can be produced sustainably and contribute to decarbonization efforts. It outlines the Brazilian model of agriculture and its technological advancements in biofuel production. The report presents data on the socio-economic benefits generated by bioenergy, including emission reductions without requiring extensive land use. It highlights Brazil's significant role in biofuel production, with statistics indicating that biofuels accounted for nearly 90% of avoided oil demand in 2028. The report also examines the relationship between biofuels and food security, asserting that increased sugarcane ethanol production does not compromise food security in Brazil.
