This case study details the implementation of CADfix at ArvinMeritor to improve legacy data access and CAD interoperability. The document outlines the challenges faced by tier-one automotive suppliers in managing CAD data across multiple systems, particularly the difficulties in transferring data from CADDS 5 to CATIA using IGES. It explains that the time-consuming preparatory work required for data transfer created significant bottlenecks in the engineering process. The solution involved investing in CADfix, which allowed for a more efficient transfer of data without extensive preparation. As a result, the time to transfer parts decreased dramatically from 30 minutes to approximately five minutes. The case study also highlights the broader benefits of CADfix, including improved collaboration among departments and enhanced data reuse, which are critical for maintaining engineering initiatives. The findings illustrate the importance of addressing interoperability challenges in engineering data management.
