This case study details the role of CADfix in the Bloodhound Supersonic Car (SSC) project, which aimed to achieve a land-speed record of 1,000 mph. The document outlines the challenges faced by the engineering team, particularly in the context of CAD data integration and simulation. Professor Oubay Hassan from Swansea University led the aerodynamic simulation efforts, emphasizing the importance of CADfix in streamlining the data transfer process. Without CADfix, the geometry rebuilding process would have significantly delayed the project, potentially extending the timeline by twelve months. The integration of CADfix with the FLITE computational fluid dynamics (CFD) system allowed for efficient geometry manipulation and analysis, enabling the team to conduct numerous simulations within a tight schedule. The case study highlights how CADfix facilitated the optimization of design geometry, ensuring the timely completion of the design phase and contributing to the overall success of the ambitious engineering endeavor.
