This case study presents the implementation of CADIQ for validating CAD models at MTU Aero Engines, a German aircraft engine manufacturer. The focus is on the challenges faced in the aerospace and defense industry, where products have lifecycles exceeding 50 years, necessitating effective CAD model data archival and retrieval solutions. The study outlines a twelve-month evaluation and testing phase in support of MTU's long-term archival (LOTAR) initiative, during which CADIQ was selected for its ease of integration and support for various validation checks. The results indicate that CADIQ was successfully integrated into MTU's Siemens Teamcenter environment, enabling easy viewing and reporting through 3D PDFs. The solution provides statistical validation data stored in MTU's quality assurance database. Additionally, CADIQ identifies model-based design data quality issues impacting downstream reuse and facilitates effective communication of design problems to engineering teams using interactive 3D graphics.
