This case study details the collaboration between EADS Defence Electronics and Proficiency in enhancing design processes for the A400M military transport aircraft project. EADS, a leading aerospace and defense company, faced challenges in integrating various CAD formats from different suppliers while adhering to the Airbus Concurrent Engineering (ACE) practice. The need for real-time collaboration among geographically dispersed teams using incompatible design tools was critical. Proficiency provided solutions that enabled the efficient sharing of engineering models, allowing EADS to utilize existing aircraft features and rapidly adapt to changing requirements. The implementation of the Collaboration Gateway facilitated seamless data transfer between different CAD systems, significantly reducing costs and time associated with traditional design methods. By automating the delivery of CAD models in the required CATIA V5 format, EADS aimed to eliminate inefficiencies and accelerate product development, ultimately enhancing their competitive edge in the defense sector.
