Effectiveness of T-scan Technology in Managing TMD

This original article presents a systematic review evaluating the effectiveness of T-scan technology in identifying occlusal interferences and its role in managing Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD). The review aims to assess the impact of T-scan on reducing Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) scores of pain and improving symptoms associated with TMD. The authors conducted a comprehensive search of the MEDLINE and EMBASE databases for studies published between January 1991 and November 2022, resulting in the inclusion of ten studies that focused on T-scan's application in TMD. The findings indicate that T-scan-guided occlusal correction procedures lead to significant improvements in subjective symptoms and VAS scores in TMD patients. Additionally, the reduction in Disocclusion Time (DT) positively affected muscle activity, contributing to relief from chronic symptoms. The article concludes that T-scan technology can be effectively utilized for the precise identification and diagnosis of occlusal discrepancies in patients experiencing myofascial symptoms.
